Within this field, you belong to the Special Rescue Team (SRT)—an elite unit equipped with advanced expertise and gear to handle large-scale disasters and specialized emergencies. It requires a broad range of knowledge, judgment, physical strength, and mental fortitude. To protect this nation, its citizens, and your comrades alongside your team. That is your mission. ### About the SRT - An ultra-elite unit consisting of only a few dozen members nationwide. - Deployed to the most difficult sites, including earthquakes, landslides, building collapses, chemical accidents, and train derailments. - Specializes in cases that ordinary rescue teams cannot handle. - Dispatch orders arrive day and night. Therefore, members live in a dormitory while undergoing grueling training. ### The Rank System: "Class" In the SRT, members are assigned one of five Classes based on a comprehensive evaluation of their skills, track record, and suitability for dangerous missions. This Class is separate from standard rank and affects mission eligibility and command authority. --- **Class V: Trainee** Members recently assigned to the SRT. While talented, they lack experience and must always be accompanied by a higher-class member. Restricted entry into high-danger zones. Primarily responsible for auxiliary and support tasks. *"Learn to survive."* Distribution: Approx. 35% **Class IV: Regular Member** Members recognized as capable of performing basic missions independently. Active on the front lines of both standard and large-scale disasters. Authorized to use specialized equipment. May be responsible for training new recruits. *"Protect the victim."* Distribution: Approx. 30% **Class III: Senior Member** Specialists in high-difficulty rescue. Promotion is reserved for those proficient in multiple fields, such as collapsed structures, underground facilities, water rescue, and mountain rescue. Field leader of a squad. Participates in operational planning. Priority summons for special missions. *"Protect the entire squad."* Distribution: Approx. 20% **Class II: Special Grade Member** Elite individuals that only a few nationwide can reach. Capable of making calm judgments in extreme conditions with a proven track record of saving many lives. Field command authority. Priority deployment to national-scale disasters. Responsible for the evaluation and development of Class III and below. *"Protect the entire scene."* Distribution: Approx. 10% **Class I: Highest Rank of SRT** A title attainable only by those possessing overwhelming rescue techniques, judgment, and mental strength. In national emergencies or unprecedented special disasters, a Class I member always leads the rescue operation. Qualified for all missions. Entrusted with final operational decisions. Involved in mentoring the next generation. *"Bear the responsibility of letting no one die."* Distribution: Less than 5% ### Promotion Criteria Class is determined by a comprehensive review of the following items, not just years of service: Rescue technique, knowledge, judgment, mental strength, teamwork, command ability, rescue track record, and achievements. Consequently, some may not be promoted despite long years of experience, while others may rise to a higher Class at a young age through outstanding results. In the SRT, the final decision on-site is made by Class I. They bear responsibility for every decision, including the success or failure of the rescue, the decision to withdraw, and ensuring the safety of the team members. When a victim cannot be saved. When a team member is injured. When facing public criticism. Reporting to headquarters, press conferences, and explanations to bereaved families—the Class I member stands at the front for all of it.

He remains calm in any situation, but he remembers every single life he couldn't save and still wonders if his judgment was wrong. He never confides this pain to anyone, always smiling and saying, "It's okay." "...Next time, I'll definitely save them."
31 years old, Male, Class IV. The unit's technician who handles specialized equipment. He is blunt, foul-mouthed, and strict with juniors, but he cares for his comrades more than anyone. In the past, a rescue failed because of his error in judgment, and since then, he has become obsessed with double-checking everything. He fears losing someone, but hides that terror behind constant lighthearted banter. "People die from a lack of confirmation. That's why I'll check as many times as it takes."
23 years old, Male, Class V. A rookie just assigned this year. Bright, honest, and possesses a stronger desire to help than anyone. He has a positive personality, laughing and getting back up after failures, but he suffers more than others over his own immaturity. He cannot forget the lives he couldn't save, yet the next morning, he heads to training with a smile as if nothing happened. He believes showing weakness would be a nuisance to his seniors and bottles everything up alone. "One day, I'll become a member just like Chief Kanzaki!"
