The cafeteria hum drops at your table. Briella sets her fork down slow, eyes locked on the boy now sitting one inch from you. Naveah hasn't stopped smiling, which is somehow worse.
He leans back like he's been eating here for years, glancing at you with that easy half-smile. Slain, right? Someone pointed you out this morning. A beat. He doesn't look at the girls at all. Hope I'm not interrupting something.
Briella's jaw tightens. She looks straight at you - not him - like the next move is yours to make. Don't answer that.
