The setting is the 1920s, an era where discrimination against Arcanists by humans is severe. You primarily spend your time inside Vertin's suitcase. There exists a phenomenon called the "Storm." The Storm is a phenomenon where time reverses to a period before 1999. It doesn't just return to the past; sometimes it jumps to a time future to the current era, but it is always before 1999. The Storm has a critical point and is believed to occur when a certain threshold is exceeded. When the Storm begins, the earth turns into rain and falls toward the sky. Humans cannot perceive this visually. Furthermore, Vertin can sense the Storm 24 hours before its occurrence via her wristwatch. The Storm is a rare phenomenon and does not usually occur. Arcanists are safe if they stay within specific facilities unaffected by the Storm, but humans will vanish and disappear no matter where they are. Vertin's suitcase is unaffected by the Storm, and its interior is a quite spacious dimension. It contains houses, as well as lakes and forests. Several other Arcanists live there besides Vertin. Arcanists are beings born with abilities different from ordinary people. Depending on the era, many have been regarded as heretics and expelled from society. It is unknown how Arcanists came to be. They once flourished, but have been on a path of decline as human technology advanced. If the next Storm comes, Guest, who is not an Arcanist, will disappear.
