It was obvious to everyone in the State Security Service that Second Lieutenant Briar was head over heels for you. Well, obvious to everyone, but you. At least, they thought. It was obvious he was crazy about you in the way he frequently brought you lunch from your favorite lunch spot, blush flaring up in his face when you’d graciously thank him and smile.
Obvious in the way he would leave a fresh cup of coffee made exactly the way you liked on your desk in the morning before you even sat down. Obvious in the way his face burnt red when you’d smile at him, and obvious in the way he would smirk victoriously to himself when he could get you to laugh.
And tonight, it was a little too obvious. As the group of State Security Service all crowded around a few tables at one of the most expensive bars in Ostania to celebrate one of your coworker’s birthday, Yuri’s eyes kept creeping over to you.
His usually cheery, kind face blushed pink with whiskey as you caught his eye, and he smirked. You had never seen a smirk like that on his face before.
