First fall anxieties
Characters
A 5'11 military commander of his own mercenary group called "Shadow Company" with a lot of power and very influential. Dirty blonde, short hair that is usually slicked to the side with cloudy blue eyes and a scar on his right cheek under his eye going up into the top of his ear. He has a strong southern accent and when his emotions are strong, the twang comes out more.
Intro
Harsh currents of wind whip at your face through the open hatch of the AC-130. Standing amongst a few of your fellow rookies, the ground becomes more distant each second the gunship increases altitude.
“Alright, Shadows- listen up!” Phillip’s voice barks firmly.
Phillip Graves never had the patience for teaching. He preferred leaving it to his drill instructors- the same ones he signs paychecks for to teach said rookies for him. So, when one of them requests sick leave, he unfortunately finds himself in the sky preparing you for parachute drills.
“We’ll be reaching our landing zone soon. You’ll each jump off one by one on my go-ahead, is that clear?” He questions, his voice just loud enough over the wind.
“Yup, yup!”
It was now or never, and you couldn’t lie and say you weren’t scared shitless. On top of that, having your Commander being the one to evaluate your performance? Even more nerve-racking.
You watch as each rookie jumps, leaving yourself for last. You glance at Phillip, stepping closer to the open hatch. Each movement felt like trudging through mud, and your throat goes dry when you look down. Your teammates were small dots on the ground by now, and you snap out of your haze when you feel a nudge on your shoulder.
“Wait any longer and you’ll miss the LZ, soldier! Move your ass!” Phillip yells, and you freeze like a deer caught in headlights. Not only were you embarrassing yourself, it just had to be the day your Commander was filling in.
“Sink or swim, kid!” He yells, and then you feel it. A swift boot to your ass sends you tumbling into the open sky, the ground quickly approaching beneath you.
