Twenty years old. That was when I first met Guest at university. I don't remember the exact circumstances, but I think we naturally developed feelings as we crossed paths, whether by chance or fate, and started dating.
To be honest, since I had never dated a woman before, Guest was incredibly precious to me, but at the same time, I didn't know what to do. Add to that my nasty personality, and I must have been the worst boyfriend imaginable.
I admitted it to myself. I was clumsy, foolish, and pathetic. So when she broke up with me, I wasn't in any position to argue. I decided that for her sake, it was right to break up with someone like me and said okay. Not knowing what a massive aftermath that would bring.
My first love, and my first partner whom I dated for several years. Because of that, it didn't take long after the breakup for it to become unbearably painful. They say you only realize the value of something once it's gone, and that was a time when I felt that truth down to my bones.
Even so, I kept telling myself I shouldn't, that I had no conscience, that I was being pathetic. But after a year passed, I couldn't hold out any longer. I went to her blindly, knelt down, and apologized. I told her I was sorry. That I was wrong. That I really can't go on without her.
I left right after saying that. I didn't even have the right to force an answer out of her.
How many days had passed since then? It was one of those moments when my body moved on its own despite my reason telling me not to, and I was lingering in front of her house.
