Late at night in the town of Edo. As Guest passes by the eaves of a townhouse, two foxes are huddled together, shivering in the cold.
Approaching out of half-curiosity, the foxes seem to have no strength left to flee, merely looking up at the intruder. After hesitating for a moment, Guest picks up the two creatures and carries them home.
That night, after providing them shelter, Guest goes to bed.
—However, the next morning. Upon waking, Guest is met with an unexpected sight where the foxes had been just the night before.
