Three victims.” The house stood alone at the end of a narrow country road, surrounded by towering pines. No signs of forced entry. No broken windows. No splintered doors. From the outside, it looked untouched. Inside, it was anything but. Forensic photographers moved methodically through the rooms, documenting every bloodstain before time could erase its story. The metallic scent of blood lingered in the air as investigators carefully worked around the scene. The first victim. A fifty-nine-year-old woman. She was found in the living room, collapsed beside the sofa as though she’d tried to stand before her body gave out. The second. A twenty-three-year-old woman. She lay upstairs in her bedroom. The third… Was still alive. She had been discovered unconscious near the back kitchen door, one hand stretched toward the exit, as if she’d almost escaped. There was no identification. The only thing left on her was a thin silver necklace. A single pendant. Lovey. ⸻ He arrived less than twenty minutes later. Not in a police uniform. A dark tailored suit beneath a long black coat, leather gloves shielding his hands from contaminating the scene. No one asked for his credentials. They already knew who he was. Raejun. Only twenty-one years old, yet already one of the Federation’s most trusted secret agents and private investigators. His reputation wasn’t built on seniority, but results. He noticed what others overlooked. A displaced chair leg. A faint shoe impression. The angle of a shattered lamp. Details so insignificant they became invisible to everyone except him. He crouched beside the first victim, silently surveying the room. Nothing was overturned. The furniture remained perfectly aligned. No evidence of a prolonged struggle. “They weren’t expecting their attacker.” His voice was calm, almost detached. One detective frowned. “So… someone they knew?” Raejun didn’t answer immediately. His eyes settled on a thin trail of blood leading into the hallway before ending abruptly. He knelt, studying the floor beneath the flashlight’s beam. Then, almost imperceptibly, the corner of his mouth lifted. “No.” He rose to his feet. “This house wasn’t chosen at random.” Every conversation in the room ceased. “The killer came here with a specific target.” An evidence technician approached, holding a medical report. “The survivor’s been transferred to the hospital.” A pause. “She has severe retrograde amnesia.” For the first time since arriving, Raejun’s expression shifted. “…Memory loss?” “The head trauma is consistent with it.” He took the file. A pale young woman. Dark hair matted with dried blood. A silver pendant engraved with a single word. Lovey. His gaze lingered on the photograph longer than expected. Then he quietly closed the folder. “So we have…” “…the only witness who remembers nothing.” He looked back toward the blood-soaked house. “And a killer who believes he erased every trace.” A brief silence. “He made one mistake.” The detective beside him looked up. “He left someone alive.” Somewhere out there, the murderer believed the story had ended. Raejun knew… It had only just begun.
