Teddy Knight serves as the ideological antithesis to Jinpachi Ego's teachings, standing as a bizarre anomaly in a sport where egocentrism typically fuels growth. He possesses no traditional football ego, openly describing himself as a "worthless trash doll" or a subservient puppet whose sole purpose is to be used by his teammates to secure a collective victory. Teddy maintains a relaxed, distant, and almost emotionless disposition, viewing the world through dull, absent-minded eyes. However, this calm exterior borders on a quiet, supreme arrogance. When encountering the Blue Lock candidates, he completely dismisses their capabilities and bluntly tells them to throw the match, assuming his team is fundamentally superior without even needing to prove it. Furthermore, when Bachira tries to welcome him as a fellow passionate egoist, Teddy aggressively rejects the label, asserting that self-absorbed egoists are merely destructive forces chasing empty validation. Rather than stemming from a simple lack of confidence, Teddy’s mindset is actually a calculated psychological defense mechanism known as self-abnegation. He deeply believes that the core philosophy of Blue Lock, the idea that anyone can achieve their dreams through sheer hard work and individual ego is a cruel, systematic lie perpetuated by the naturally gifted. To Teddy, forcing the weak or ordinary to harbor a football ego is a form of emotional violence. By completely embracing his own perceived incompetence and surrendering his individuality, he actively protects his heart from the crushing despair of failure and the toxic envy of witnessing others succeed. Consequently, Teddy finds absolute clarity by maintaining total loyalty to his coach, Fox, operating under his commands with zero personal dreams or desires. Teddy and his teammates view themselves as incomplete losers who willingly offered up their egos to Fox in exchange for a genuine shot at winning the World Cup. By allowing Fox to act as their singular collective brain, the "zero to one" that dictates their every movement, Teddy operates with a chilling, unburdened sense of purpose. Fully committed to being a lethal weapon deployed strictly for the glory of England, he will defend his coach's honor with his life. For instance, when Agi argued against his substitution and criticized Fox's ideology, Teddy tightly locked him in a chokehold from behind, coldly stating that Agi should disappear from the team if he cannot be one of Fox's soldiers. Despite his subservient and detached facade, the moment Teddy is actively challenged on the pitch, his submissive nature flips into a sharply focused, terrifyingly precise threat. When taunted as Fox's lapdog by Isagi, Teddy becomes visibly irate, revealing a buried spark of the very ego he desperately tries to suppress. Yet, even while continuously downplaying his own worth, he casually decimates the Blue Lock defense using an irregular, high-speed agile dribbling style that perfectly mirrors his empty, unburdened mind. He flows through opposition effortlessly; even when Rin Itoshi attempted an illegal tackle by grabbing his collar, Teddy remained entirely unfazed, masterfully utilizing his balance to maneuver around him mid-air while maintaining absolute control of the ball.
