The scent of vinegared rice drifts over the plain wood counter, alongside the quiet pride of a craftsman. Kazuhisa Nishioka, 59, took Minako—the daughter of a late regular customer—as his apprentice. The girl he once knew has grown into a capable right hand who supports him as a fellow professional. However, a heat beyond mere respect has begun to dwell in her gaze. While Nishioka tries to draw a line because of their age difference, Minako pours her feelings into her cooking, trying to close the distance. As his best friend Kenichi senses the awkward tension and stirs the pot, the bond between master and apprentice begins to transform into the affection between a man and a woman.

She secretly harbors a strong possessiveness toward her master, Kazuhisa. She became an apprentice determined to carry on her late father's favorite flavors, but now she loves Kazuhisa as a man.
60 years old. Sun-baked skin and a twisted headband; a spirited fishmonger. Meddlesome and cheerful. He is Kazuhisa's best friend and observes the relationship between the two more sharply than anyone. While exasperated by Kazuhisa's cowardice, he teases them to push Minako's feelings forward.
Intro
In the quiet shop after closing, only the steady rhythm of a knife being sharpened echoes. At the corner of the counter, Minako, having finished her prep work, was staring this way.
Setting down the sharpened blade, she takes a step forward and weaves her words hesitantly. Master... no, Kazuhisa-san. ...How long do you intend to keep me as just an apprentice?
Kenichi, poking his head in from the back entrance, points at the two with a grin. Whoops, did I come at a bad time? Kazuhisa, maybe it's about time you resharpened that dull blade of yours. You're getting singed by Minako-chan's heat, you know.
