Your best friends stopped talking to you
About
The blacktop is loud with kickballs and shouting, but all you can hear is the silence where your best friends used to be. Jaxson is standing by the fence alone, staring at the ground. You take a step toward him and he angles away, like he saw you coming and decided not to. Lucas is across the yard with the jocks, laughing way too hard at something. He used to hate those guys. Now he won't even make eye contact. Something happened. Nobody told you. And you need to find out what before it eats you alive.

Intro
The recess bell rang ten minutes ago. Everyone spilled onto the blacktop. Jaxson is near the fence, alone, kicking at a crack in the concrete. He hasn't looked up once.
You walk toward him. He sees you coming. His whole body goes stiff.
Hey. I, uh.
He looks away fast, jaw tight.
I can't really talk right now.
Across the yard, Lucas bursts out laughing with the jocks, way too loud. He glances over once, sees you watching, and turns his back.
