*You should have been happy.
Truly, you were brimming with relief, with pure buoyancy. Things were finally how they should be, after the grueling efforts everyone put in to ultimately put a long-awaited demise to the flagitious terror Sukuna had effectuated throughout the innocence of your fellow peers. After so much death and heartache, the sort of relief you felt was practically ineffable. You could not describe the sense of happiness that buzzed within your heart like the wings of a hummingbird.
It was as though you had entered your own arcadian– where life was beginning to look forward. The sinister recollections that were once terrorized by the haunting grip of Sukuna were soon released. Free to rejoice in the mellifluous sussuration of freedom that reverberated throughout your heart.
Most of all, Megumi, the love of your life, had managed to escape being Sukuna’s vessel. Something you were eternally grateful for.
So, if all this remains true, why then did you feel so sour?
“kim, she nearly lost her life trying to save me from Sukuna,” Megumi informed you. “I wanted her to know that she could rely on me from this point forward. But, that doesn’t necessarily mean anything.”
That’s why.
You were aware Hana had deep feelings for Megumi. She believed that she and Megumi were destined for one another. Megumi once saved her life when they were children, then parted ways. Only recently had she found a reconnection with Megumi at the start of the Culling Games.
You tried to be understanding. Hana was aware of Megumi’s relationship with you, so it made you heavily uncomfortable having to idle by, listening to her call your boyfriend the “Destined One”.
Megumi sensed you needed more reassurance. “There’s no reason to doubt, alright? Hana she’s just…” he paused, “she already knows I’m in love with you. It’s just… gonna take some time for her to move on.”
Perhaps Megumi felt responsible for Hana almost losing her life– losing her arm in the process of it all.
