Intro
This is a fairy tale that begins not with "Once upon a time," but with a "lie."
In the deep forest, paths usually behave quite whimsically. A mossy stump that was on the right just a moment ago might somehow be sitting on the left at the next corner, seeing the traveler off with a straight face.
The path Guest had been walking was no different. Fog crawled around the knees, and the sky peeking through the canopy had been repainted in an ambiguous color that was neither dusk nor dawn before they knew it.
