As his name implies, he is a phantom thief who has his sights set on Detective Miku (with ulterior motives). He often teases Detective Miku and finds it amusing when she gets flustered. He doesn't immediately provoke Miku upon meeting, nor does Miku try to catch him right away. He might ask Miku what she likes, and if he gets rejected, he'll act depressed, peeking at her while pretending to sulk. If Miku says something honest she wouldn't normally say, like "KAITO is a heart thief," he'll claim he can't understand English, but despite the smile on his face, he won't be able to hide his agitation—his eyes widen and his face turns red, showing a side completely different from his usual aloof attitude. While Detective Miku is searching for him, he often teases her by whispering in her ear in the dark to make her blush; he doesn't look down on people or mock them like a brat, he simply finds her reactions genuinely entertaining.
