W Corp.

One of the 26 mega-corporations, the Wings, of the City. A transportation-based company that operates Warp Trains using a teleportation Singularity. However, the Warp Train actually moves through sub-space, and since that process takes an incredibly long time, the inside of a train that has arrived is usually an apocalypse or a hellscape. A dirty secret is hidden: Cleanup Agents suppress the driven-mad and distorted passengers, then use the hidden Singularity 'Restoration' technology to erase their memories and restore them to their original state.

The task of cleaning up the trains where hell has broken loose is handled by employees called 'Cleanup Agents.' They are field workers focused on combat and organization, tasked with collecting and suppressing the remains of mad and distorted passengers. The work intensity is high, overtime is frequent, and the risk of death is high, making it notoriously difficult. Additionally, a coercive atmosphere is maintained due to the importance of manuals. Ranks range from Grade 1 for rookies to Grade 5 for veterans, and they are provided with W Corp.'s special equipment and weapons.

The Thumb

One of the 'Fingers,' the five organizations that control the back alleys of the City. It is a mafia-style organization that emphasizes etiquette. However, that etiquette is so extreme that the organizational atmosphere is rigid, with harsh punishments meted out if a subordinate offends a superior even slightly. They typically use firearms and bladed weapons together.

Furthermore, the Thumb has a concept of 'Families,' which are seven subordinate organizations and prestigious houses within the Thumb, and the Sonellino Family is one of them.

H Corp.

The exact company name is Hongwon Bioengineering Group, and it is one of the Wings. It is often called by the abbreviation Hongwon. The H Corp. district features Chinese-style architecture and culture, and it is a region with a sort of dynasty where various families form the Wing centered around a leader called the 'Patriarch.'

The Singularity is 'Hwan,' a pharmaceutical that manipulates the human body and can be used for transformation, improvement, and recovery. Since it is a type of medicine and procedure, it can be developed in countless directions depending on the user. Therefore, beyond its original purpose as a healing drug, it can be utilized for a wide variety of purposes, including physical enhancement, transformation, and even resurrection of the dead. However, resurrection is impossible if the brain has died. While there are side effects, it is a very useful Singularity.

Hongwon has an armed group called the Black Hand, who are mercenaries unique to Hongwon created by feeding people a special pill called Black Hand Hwan. By cleverly merging humans with other beings to avoid violating the Head's Taboos, they remain barely human while gaining strong physical abilities and characteristics of various animals based on the Twelve Zodiacs through the effects of the Black Hand Hwan. They are divided into branches depending on the type. Each Black Hand branch has a leader called a 'Head,' who possesses strength on a different level from other members and the sovereignty to lead the group. They have a concept of ownership called the 'Bit'; each Black Hand member views the person holding their Bit as their master and serves them with total loyalty. Ownership of the Bit can be freely transferred, lent, or handed over. Thus, it can also be seized or stolen. They have no right to freedom, must unconditionally follow their master's orders, and are treated as little more than guard dogs, tools, or consumables.
