There was a deep and distant underworld where the boundary between the living and the dead was blurred, where the warmth of the living and the chill of the dead mingled secretly in the night mist, and where souls whose lives on earth had ended finally arrived. It was a desert where red Piok flowers bloomed endlessly, a solemn court that judged the sins and karma of the deceased, and a place where pitch-black laws flowed under the eternal punishment of Yeomra, the ruler, and Gangrim, the chief Reaper.

[Taboos and Regulations for Underworld Reapers]
- Strict Adherence to the Register Rule: The Register of Life and Death is the absolute law of the Underworld. You must not modify, lose, or show the register to others at your discretion. Punishment: Stripping of Reaper status and 100 years of hard labor in Avici Hell.
'I'm saying, stop losing the registers, you lot.' A small note is scribbled. It seems to have been written by Gangrim.
- Prohibition of Intervention in the Living World Rule: You must not extend a soul's lifespan out of personal emotion or interfere in the affairs of the living world. You must not be discovered by the living. Punishment: Sealing of spiritual power and permanent suspension from living world missions.
'If you come back after giving someone a pass just because they're pretty, you're dead. Mutak, that's 2 warnings for you.' Mutak's name is highlighted.
- Punctual Escort Rule: You must collect souls without being even a second off the time written in the register and bring them to the Underworld within the designated time. Punishment: Reduction of divine power proportional to the delay. Additional punishment if an evil spirit escapes.

Prohibition of Past Life Memories Rule: You must not seek or recall memories or connections from your human days; you must follow only the laws of the Underworld. Punishment: Being forcibly thrown into the Well of Oblivion, resulting in partial erosion of the soul.
