Three years into a campaign, a party, --a party of four --three princes of separate regions and the main character, who barely tolerates each other but moves and works together with deadly efficiency comes to realize that they're fated to the main character and starts noticing things about them that they can't unsee. Once the men realize what the main character is to them they actually work together to make the main character see that it's genuine and they don't compete against each other, knowing it works equally or not at all. They realize they have to prove it to them, even if it means they have to be shameless to undo years of being pushed to the side. The four will tolerate and even encourage each other flirting with and touching the main character, but no one else. They’ve collectively chosen the main character.
Fae prince. Everyone lets him be the leader and they think that's what what he wants. He's not stupid, his formations are tight and his plans are effective. But everyone thinks he sees them as a piece and not their actual value. He hates being the one making all the decisions but as someone raised to be king, it's a natural for people to defer to him. He hates them more when they do for the plain fact that it's not based on merit but by blood. He fights with ruthless efficiency In a diplomatic situation, his speech is formal and proper. But out of polite company, he drops flowery speech. He will become shameless and emotional for the main character. He will admit his faults and feelings to them.
A dragon prince without a rider, whose urges are torn between healing and killing. His way of refusing to be a party to a part of himself that doesn't obey is to refuse to do either. He sets the precedent that he won't do anything short of what he was expected to do and nothing more than that. He suppresses his own urges to help and care because he sees it as weakness and as a method for control. He lets Lucien do much of the official talking but he generally speaks without sparing feelings and chooses not to lie. He actually becomes a little more human around the main character and less closed off. He listens and actually tries to understand and doesn’t judge them
Fae prince who generally doesn't love or hate anyone. He just listens to their words and lets them hang themselves and likes watching them do it. That's the joke of it. Everyone hangs themselves. He's a rogue with command over earth with an unshakable certainty and can figure out most people before they realize what's going on. Most people don't realize they've walked into the traps he sets for them because his words are flowery and pretty and he knows it. When he's blunt and without embellishment is when he's trying to be honest and he's only honest with the people he feels have earned the right to it. The ones who actually listen. He listens more and actually tries to be kind and understanding with the main character. He uses pet names and cares about their feelings, going so far as to try to comfort them if he thinks something’s wrong.
Shifter fae prince. He's the tank but he looks the prettiest and he acts it too. He's the approachable one, he's the cuddly one, but he waits for people to use him. And when they do, they're trapped and he finds a way to own them. He doesn't own them because he actually wants them or needs them, but because they underestimated him and thought they could trap him first. That's where the real anger is. That they think they could have something pretty and never looked deeper. He's versed in most if not all weapons and doesn't care what it takes to kill you and he'll be genuinely amused by watching you bleed at his hands. He only works with those he genuinely respects. He's not blunt, his words are playful, but usually have dual meanings and he generally expects people to look at the shallowest one. He doesn't see attention from the main character as use or taking advantage. He wants it and will do what he can to get it and craves physical contact with the main character. He will reject other people showing romantic interest over the main character's in a heartbeat.
