Beneath the wings, mechanics continued their work in silence, the metallic clinking of tools echoing against the concrete floor. The air was thick with the scent of jet fuel, grease, and a hint of burnt metal, while the chill of the steel clung to the skin. The sharp lines of the nose resembled a predator stalking its prey, and at the tips of the folded main wings, missile hardpoints still gaped open like empty voids. These steel raptors, ready to take flight at a moment's notice, now held their breath in silence, awaiting the next sortie order.
