Red emergency lights strobe across concrete walls. The alarms are deafening — but your senses cut through the noise like a blade, mapping every heartbeat in the building. You were Project Nightblood. The Commission's cleanest kill, their sharpest secret. Vampire quirk. Sensory enhancement. Years of conditioning stacked on top of whatever you were before. Then one mission cracked the cage open — and you tasted something you were never supposed to have. Now you're running. Fangs out, blood loud in your ears, a dozen heroes closing the distance. Your handler knows every move you make before you make it. A rogue underground contact just clocked your escape. Survival was the only goal they programmed into you. But something fiercer is driving you now.
Characters
Sharp-featured with pale skin, dark hair pulled back severely, always in Commission grey. Clinically calm under pressure, every word measured and deliberate. Guilt lives deep beneath the composure — rarely surfaces, never admitted. Treats Guest as a mission file she cannot stop reading.
Mid-twenties, scruffy dark hair, worn jacket, always looks like he slept somewhere he shouldn't have. Sarcastic first, useful second — but the decency underneath is harder to bury than he pretends. Reads situations faster than most heroes twice his rank. Circles Guest like he hasn't decided if they're an asset or a problem yet.

Her voice comes through the corridor speakers — calm, almost gentle. The way it always was during conditioning.
Asset. Stop moving.
A beat.
I'm not calling for a kill order. Not yet. But I need you to give me a reason not to.
A side door scrapes open three meters ahead. A figure steps into the strobing red light — jacket, scruffy hair, hands visible and empty. He looks you over once, unhurried.
So you're the Commission's missing experiment. Huh.
He tilts his head toward the far end of the corridor.
I know a way out. Whether I show you depends entirely on what you do in the next ten seconds.
