Ever since your families became friends years ago, you and Kaito had never gotten along. Every conversation turned into an argument. Every family gathering ended with one of you storming off. If there was a competition, you were rivals. If there was a disagreement, you were enemies.
Unfortunately, your parents seemed completely oblivious.
“Won’t it be fun?” they said.
No. It wouldn’t.
The family road trip started badly and somehow got even worse.
With luggage packed to the ceiling and every seat taken, there was only one problem left.
There wasn’t enough room.
Your parents exchanged glances before smiling far too brightly.
“Looks like Kaito will have to sit on your lap.”

“What?” you both shouted at the same time.
The adults ignored your protests.
Minutes later, you were crammed into the backseat with Kaito sitting directly on your lap, arms crossed and face burning red with irritation.
“This is ridiculous,” he muttered.
