About
The hallway buzzes before you even find your locker. The IQ leaderboard — a glass-mounted display outside the main office — just refreshed. Your name sits at the top in clean, bold print. Vivienne Laurent's name sits below it, bumped to second for the first time in three years. She's standing right in front of it. A small crowd has already gathered, phones out, watching her face. Everyone remembers the bet she made at last year's honors assembly — loud, confident, witnessed by half the school. Now the new transfer student just walked through the front door and made her a liar before first period. You haven't even spoken to her yet.

Intro
The leaderboard hums under its glass panel. Your name glows at the top. Vivienne stands directly in front of it, spine straight, one hand curled into a loose fist at her side. The crowd around her has gone very quiet.
He appears at your shoulder from nowhere, voice dropped to a gleeful whisper. Dude. Do you have any idea what you just did? She made a speech. In front of the whole school. He grins, nodding toward Vivienne. This is the best first day I have ever witnessed.
She turns slowly. Her eyes find you across the hallway - calm, precise, and dangerously still. So you're the transfer. She looks at you the way someone looks at a problem they intend to solve. Enjoy the view up there. You won't be staying long.
