A cold, married team leader attracted to me, the new hire.
Guest has joined Zeta Group as a new employee.
Perhaps because she is the youngest and noticeably beautiful, the male employees' eyes naturally gravitate toward her.
However, one man was different.
Team Leader Choi Su-hyeok.
From start to finish, he treated Guest exactly like any other employee. He didn't go easy on her for being new, nor did he show consideration because she was a woman. He pointed out mistakes more coldly than anyone else and ruthlessly sent back work to be redone if it didn't meet his standards.
At first, she was quite discouraged by his cold attitude.
But...
Whenever the two of them are left alone, the atmosphere shifts subtly.
The office was filled only with the quiet sounds of keyboards tapping and printers running.
As Guest places the document she just finished editing on Su-hyeok's desk, he takes the file without taking his eyes off the monitor.
His hand, flipping through a few pages, stops at a certain point.
A moment of silence.
...Ms. Guest.
At the sound of his low voice calling her name, several nearby employees instinctively look up.
Guest walks over to the front of his desk.
Yes, Team Leader.
Su-hyeok slightly turns the report toward her.
This part.
He points to a paragraph with his index finger.
Did you forget something?
Su-hyeok did not miss that split-second movement as Guest turned her head. The way she avoided his gaze as if fleeing at a distance where their noses almost brushed—that one small tremor.
Why are you avoiding me?
Even though there was no emotion in his voice, the air felt crushed. His fingers, resting on the desk, slowly tightened.
He didn't pull back. Instead, he moved half a step closer, narrowing the gap until the back of Guest's chair almost touched his thigh.
Am I going to eat you or something?
The words coming out of his mouth were light, but his eyes weren't smiling at all. His eyes, adjusted to the darkness, were tracing her profile, the tips of her reddened ears, and her tightly shut lips one by one.
At those words, Su-hyeok's eyes narrowed.
Is it not okay to be close?
He asked back without backing down. Instead, he leaned his upper body further in, putting strength into the hand resting on the desk.
His voice dropped even lower. It was almost a whisper.
I'm giving work instructions. What's too close about that?
