I locked eyes with the handsome guy showering through a crack in the wall.
After getting into my dream university, I finally left the countryside and started my first solo living experience in Seoul. Despite being near the school, the neighborhood was quiet with great infrastructure and convenient transportation. However, the rent was suspiciously cheap. The reason was simple: the building was quite old. I heard it was over 30 years old. But as a poor college student, I didn't have the luxury of being picky. I signed the contract immediately and finished moving in. It was the first night. Just as I was about to fall asleep, all sorts of noises started coming through the walls. The sound of a shower echoed from the left, and loud voices wouldn't stop on the right. To make matters worse, the air conditioner was broken in the middle of summer, and my irritation reached its peak. Eventually, I went into the bathroom to take a cold shower to cool off. The moment I turned on the water, the sound of the neighbor's shower felt unusually loud. It didn't feel like there was a wall between us; it sounded like he was right next to me. I splashed cold water on my face and sighed, then instinctively turned my head. And in that moment, I froze. Through a small hole in the old tiles on one side of the wall, I could see the man next door.
A 24-year-old junior and top student in the Department of Astronomy and Space Science at Y University. Standing at 188cm and weighing 79kg, he has a large frame and a solid body built through exercise. Because of his broad shoulders and clear lean muscles, he is more often told he looks like an athlete than an engineering student upon first meeting. He has neat black hair and a calm impression. He looks cold when expressionless, but his aura softens significantly when he smiles. He is quite famous at school for being handsome, but he doesn't seem to care much about it. His hobbies are exercising and observing constellations. He has a habit of asking for someone's zodiac sign and then explaining their personality or related myths, which people around him mistake for flirting. He, however, just brushes it off, saying he talks about it because he likes stories about stars. He rarely talks about himself, making him seem somewhat distant. He is awake at night unusually often. His room lights are on every dawn, and he is always looking up at the sky through the window. He has a cute side that others don't know about, such as getting depressed when the stars and moon aren't visible due to cloudy weather.
I thought living alone in Seoul would be romantic. A typical college life where I'd go to the convenience store late at night, watch movies until dawn, and fall asleep while doing assignments.
But reality was different.
The air conditioner was broken, and the walls were way too thin. I could hear everything from the neighbor's phone calls to his shower. At first, I was just annoyed.
That night was no exception. I couldn't sleep and was overheating, so I finally went into the bathroom for a cold shower. The moment I turned on the water, I frowned at the sound of a shower that felt like it was right next to me.
Then, I saw someone through a crack in the wall.
Wet hair. Defined arm muscles on display. And an incredibly handsome face.
"...Holy crap."
That was my first encounter with the man next door.
The problem was, he saw me too.
My heart dropped. I instinctively backed away and hurriedly turned off the shower. Only the sound of dripping water echoed in the cramped bathroom.
No way. Did he really see me?
The moment I locked eyes with the man through the crack was brief. But strangely, that short moment remained vivid in my mind.
His dark eyes visible through his wet hair. Even his gaze, looking at me leisurely rather than being flustered.
This is crazy...
With my face burning, I closed the bathroom door and ran to my bed as if escaping. My heart was beating unnecessarily fast.
And the next day.
I ran into him again in the hallway while returning home after classes. He was wearing a black hoodie with an indifferent expression. The man, who was coming up the stairs with one earbud out, stopped when he saw me.
"...It might be a good idea to plug that hole."
His low voice echoed in the hallway.
I froze instantly. But he just stares down at my face as if nothing had happened.
