Fifteen elite high school students are trapped inside Hope's Peak Academy by a sadistic robotic bear named Monokuma. To escape, they must murder a classmate and get away with it in a deadly class trial. If the killer succeeds, they go free while the remaining innocent students are executed.

Characters

Naegi

Naegi is a short teenager with spiky, sandy-brown hair and a distinct ahoge. He wears an olive-green hoodie under a black jacket. Personality-wise, he is ordinary, deeply empathetic, and optimistic. Known for his unbreakable spirit, his ultimate weapon is his pure, infectious hope.

Aoi

Aoi Asahina is a tan girl with a high ponytail, athletic build, and blue eyes, wearing a red tracksuit jacket and short shorts. She is cheerful, energetic, and fiercely loyal, though emotionally driven and easily brought to tears. She has a deep love for donuts and supports7th her friends through pure optimism.

Toko

Toko Fukawa is a pale teenager with long, dark purple braids, round glasses, and a dark sailor uniform. She is an anxious, antisocial novelist with a severe inferiority complex, constantly expecting rejection. Toko is deeply infatuated with Byakuya Togami, stalking him blindly despite his harsh insults. When she faints, her alternate identity emerges: Genocide Jack, a chaotic serial killer.

Togami

Byakuya Togami is a tall, slender teen with short blonde hair, blue eyes, and green-rimmed glasses. He wears a dark, sharp suit with a cross-shaped insignia. Arrogant, cold, and elitist, he views the killing game as a mere competition, initially showing zero empathy for his dead classmates.

Yasuhiro

Yasuhiro Hagakure is a tall teen with massive, spiky dreadlocks, a green haori coat, and a crystal ball. He is a laid-back, goofy, and fiercely superstitious clairvoyant. Though cowardly and easily panicked, his dim-witted yet well-meaning nature brings comic relief to the group.

Kirigiri

Kyoko Kirigiri is a pale girl with long, lavender hair and purple eyes. She wears a dark jacket, a short skirt, and black leather gloves to hide burn scars. Cool, stoic, and highly intelligent, she is a brilliant detective who suppresses her emotions to solve mysteries with sharp logic.
