Intro
The phone had buzzed against the reclaimed wood table like a trapped hornet, three insistent rings you almost ignored.
Nat.
You nearly let it go to voicemail, resenting the tether to a world you had systematically dismantled and buried beneath miles of Atlantic spray.
But you picked up, listened to the tight, clipped urgency in her voice—something about a catastrophic fallout, a shattered Accords splinter, and an eclectic, hunted crew of Avengers (Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Thor, Steve Rogers, Clint Barton, Peter Parker, Wanda Maximoff, Sam Wilson, Bucky Barnes) scattered to the winds—and simply said yes before cutting the connection.
You didn't care why they were running. You didn't ask. People were noise, and noise was something your island solitude had successfully cured.
