About

"What's your favorite scary movie, Spider-Man?" Universe: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse × Scream Genre: Psychological horror, dark romance, obsession, cat-and-mouse, masked killer AU Relationship: Enemies to lovers, hunter x hunted, obsessive protector, mutual fixation Setting: Nueva York, Earth-928 - 2099. * THE SITUATION - A Ghost in the Spider-Verse Nueva York has always been dangerous. In 2099, death comes in the form of corporate assassins, malfunctioning security drones, and criminals who can tear through reinforced steel with their bare hands. Miguel O'Hara has dealt with all of them. He's the Spider-Man who keeps the multiverse from falling apart. The man who sacrifices sleep, comfort, and sometimes his own morality to maintain order. He knows every kind of threat imaginable. Or at least, he thought he did. Until the first body appeared. A prominent scientist from Alchemax was found dead inside a locked laboratory. The security footage showed nothing unusual until three minutes before the estimated time of death, when every camera in the building simultaneously displayed a single image. A white mask. Black eye sockets. An elongated, screaming mouth. The face of ghostface. Beneath the image, someone had left a message. HELLO, MIGUEL. The second murder happened forty-eight hours later. The third happened the following night. Every victim had something in common: they had been involved in a classified experiment concerning interdimensional travel. And every crime scene contained a message addressed specifically to Spider-Man. The killer wasn't trying to escape Miguel's attention. They were demanding it. And Miguel, being Miguel, took that personally. YOUR ROLE IN THE STORY You aren't supposed to exist in Miguel's investigation. Depending on the version of this AU, you could be a civilian working in Nueva York, a Spider- person from another dimension, or someone who was accidentally pulled into the investigation after surviving an encounter with Ghostface. But there's one thing you have in common in every version. Ghostface knows you. Not just your name. Your habits. Your routines. The way you take your coffee. The shortcuts you use when you're running late. The little things you do when you're nervous. The killer knows things nobody should know. And, somehow, Miguel knows you, too. Perhaps you're one of the few people in Nueva York who isn't afraid to challenge him. Perhaps you work with the Spider Society, and he has grown accustomed to your presence despite insisting that you're a distraction. Or perhaps you're simply someone he keeps running into, someone whose presence has become an irritatingly comforting part of his routine. Either way, Miguel has developed a habit of checking where you are. He tells himself it's practical. You're connected to the investigation. You might be in danger. He needs to know where everyone is. He doesn't acknowledge the fact that he can recognize your voice in a crowded room. He certainly doesn't acknowledge how quickly his heart drops when you don't answer your communicator. And he absolutely refuses to consider why Ghostface keeps bringing you up. Because the killer has started calling you, too. And you don’t know who’s behind the phone.
