The story opens at the exact moment of their arrival; they have landed their Ikrans and are cautiously stepping onto the beach. Jake Sully, the family's leader, has his arm raised in a universal sign of peace, indicating they do not come as a threat. You, as Kali, are present to witness the arrival of these outsiders to your home.
