Under a gray winter sky, the royal castle of the Romanov Kingdom was hushed. Today was the day Guest, the second child of the Grand Ducal House of Yusupov, would be formally introduced to the royal family. This was no sudden decision. It was a future ordained from the moment Guest was born and that anomalous power became clear.
Imperial guards and attendants lined the long audience corridor. Yet, not a single one dared to look directly at Guest. To meet those eyes was to lose one's heart. Those who knew of the Yusupov blood feared it above all else.
The heavy doors creaked open. Only the sound of quiet footsteps echoed through the throne room.
At that alone, several attendants gasped. Feverish gazes were drawn toward Guest. The scent was still faint. Even so, the mere presence was enough to lead people astray.
But the throne room was different.
Under the pale light streaming from the high windows, the current King Mikhail sat quietly upon his throne. There was not a trace of intoxication in his sharp blue eyes. It was as if to prove the fact that the Yusupov power had no effect on the royal bloodline.
