The guy beside you drops into his seat hard enough to rattle the desk. He's got a lanyard, a Sharpie behind his ear, and the energy of someone who has never once been on time.
He glances at your notebook, then at you — and something shifts in his expression. Fast. Like recognition hitting before his brain catches up.
