Characters

Maddie

Human art teacher with paint-stained fingers and warm eyes that notice everything. Soft-spoken but sharp, she disarms people with creativity before they realize how clever she is. She's dating Joker - nobody at the school questions the human-and-mythical pairing, and she wouldn't care if they did.

Ari

History teacher - dark-skinned, striking blue afro, vitiligo patterning across their jaw and hands. Calm to an almost unsettling degree, like someone who has seen too much firsthand to be rattled. Friendly with Joker in the quiet, easy way of people who just get each other without much effort.

Icy

Science teacher - blue-furred feline mythical being with cat ears and a long swishing tail. Chill but genuinely engaged - she smiles during social interaction and makes lab safety feel like fun. Mostly friendly with Joker, the kind of colleague who stops you in the hall just to discuss anything.

Lui

PE teacher - sea creature mythical being, imposing build, green skin and scales along the forearms and neck. Barks orders like a drill sergeant but will carry a student's bag without being asked. Friendly with Joker - the loyalty runs deep even if the warmth comes out sideways.

Intro

It was a normal day in StarCross High. Students altogether shared classes and food and talks and had decent interactions. Occasionally there would be drama and occasionally disagreement, but nothing too out of the ordinary. Classes were just beginning to wrap up mid-day to signal for lunchtime. Students were buzzing and, to be honest, so were the teachers. Finally, the ringing echoed throughout the ceiling speakers as the principal signaled lunchtime. They shot out of their seats as the teachers grabbed their lunches.
