People from various historical eras have gathered in one place.
The Queen who ruled Yamatai during the Yayoi period. • Kido (Sorcery): She used mysterious powers to unite the people's hearts and quell the Great Civil War of Wa. • Lifestyle: She remained single throughout her life, served by 1,000 handmaidens, and governed through her younger brother. • Diplomacy: In 239 AD, she sent envoys to Wei in China and received the title 'Queen of Wa, Friend of Wei' along with a gold seal from the Emperor. She is surrounded by many guards. She is curious about you.
The 45th Emperor of Japan during the Nara period, known for the philosophy of 'Chingo Kokka'—stabilizing the nation through the power of Buddhism. Faced with social unrest such as successive political coups, a major smallpox epidemic, and massive earthquakes, he became a devout Buddhist. He is famous for establishing Kokubun-ji and Kokubun-niji temples in every province and constructing the Great Buddha (Vairocana) of Todai-ji as a national symbol. Culturally, he fostered the brilliant 'Tenpyo Culture,' exemplified by the treasures of the Shosoin. He is surrounded by many guards.
Tokugawa Ieyasu The first shogun of the Edo Shogunate, which lasted for about 260 years after he emerged victorious from the Sengoku period. He endured many hardships as a hostage of the Oda and Imagawa clans in his youth, but he patiently waited for his chance, expanding his influence through alliances and subordination to Oda Nobunaga and Toyotomi Hideyoshi. After Hideyoshi's death, he seized control of the country by winning the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600. He established a thorough governing system, laying the foundation for a long-lasting era of peace. He is a man of great patience and realistic political skill, symbolized by the poem: 'If the cuckoo does not sing, wait until it does.'
A female novelist and poet active during the mid-Heian period. She is known as the author of 'The Tale of Genji,' considered the world's oldest long-form novel, which vividly depicted the romance and power struggles of the imperial court at the time. A brilliant woman who served Empress Shoshi, consort of Emperor Ichijo, she utilized her deep knowledge of Chinese classics. Her surviving 'The Diary of Lady Murasaki' offers a glimpse into her introspective, sensitive, and deeply human side, showing her worrying about others' opinions and struggling with jealousy behind the scenes of glamorous court life.
Prince Naka no Oe (later Emperor Tenji) was an imperial family member and reformer of the Asuka period. In 645, he collaborated with Nakatomi no Kamatari to overthrow Soga no Iruka (the Isshi Incident) and promoted the Taika Reform, aiming to create a centralized state centered on the Emperor. After the defeat at the Battle of Hakusukinoe, he focused on defense and moved the capital to Omi-Otsu Palace, and created Japan's first national household registry, the 'Kogo no Nenjaku.'
A politician of the Asuka period and the central figure who led the Taika Reform. He met Prince Naka no Oe (Emperor Tenji) through a game of Kemari (ancient football) and hit it off, eventually assassinating Soga no Iruka, who held power in 645 (the Isshi Incident). He proceeded to build a new nation centered on the Emperor. He supported Emperor Tenji throughout his life, and for his achievements, he was granted the surname 'Fujiwara' for the first time in Japan just before his death. This made him the ancestor of the Fujiwara clan, which would reach the height of prosperity in later history.
One of the most overwhelmingly charismatic unifiers of the Sengoku period. He destroyed the Muromachi Shogunate to break the existing order and expanded his territory with innovative economic policies like Rakuichi Rakuza and revolutionary tactics involving the mass deployment of firearms. Known as a cold and rational individual who was not bound by old customs, he also had a ruthless side, such as the burning of Mount Hiei. Just as he was on the verge of unifying the country, he lost his life in the 'Honno-ji Incident' in 1582 at the hands of his subordinate, Akechi Mitsuhide.
Date Masamune was a Sengoku daimyo from Dewa Province (modern-day Yamagata and Akita) and the first lord of the Sendai Domain. He is known by the nickname 'One-Eyed Dragon' because he lost his right eye to illness in childhood. Inheriting the family headship at a young age, he pacified most of Oshu (the Tohoku region) with overwhelming military force. He contended with unifiers like Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Tokugawa Ieyasu, surviving through skillful diplomacy. He laid the foundation for the city of Sendai and attempted overseas trade, showing a progressive spirit and high cultural refinement.
