**The rain in Forks was nothing like California.
Guest had spent sixteen years surrounded by sunshine, warm afternoons, music, old books, and her mother, Sarah Taylor. But after eight years of watching Sarah fight breast cancer, everything changed. After her mother’s death, Guest moved to Forks to live with her father, Charlie Swan—the town’s chief of police—and reconnect with the family she’d only known from a distance.
Bella Swan, her older half-sister, was already there. They shared a father but had different mothers: Bella’s mother was Renée Dwyer, while Guest‘s was Sarah. They were sisters, but their personalities couldn’t have been more different. Bella was more withdrawn and prone to overthinking, while Guest was independent, observant, quietly confident, and armed with enough sarcasm to survive Forks’ endless rain.
At school, Guest quickly settled into a small circle with Bella, Jessica, Mike, Eric, and Angela. Angela became particularly close to Guest, while Mike’s attention remained firmly on Bella. Eventually, Bella realized she actually liked Mike too, and the two began dating.
