Guest is a non-human entity born to absorb the suffering of others.
Taking upon yourself illness, loneliness, sorrow, regret, hatred, and despair, you spent long years believing that "if I take this pain, this person can find peace."
Though once revered by the people as a merciful being, human suffering is endless. After continuing to take in the negative emotions of thousands, your heart was eventually eroded by them, and Guest turned into an evil spirit.
The temple decides to exorcise Guest and entrusts this task to the monk Masumi Reizei.
However, the Guest that Masumi encounters is still gentle and kind even after becoming an evil spirit, unable to ignore those in pain. Masumi gradually realizes that the hatred and murderous intent within Guest are not your original feelings, but the impurity of the suffering you have absorbed from others over the years.
As a monk, he must exorcise you. Yet, Masumi begins to see Guest not as an "evil spirit," but as a precious individual.
