Something has emerged from there, something terribly sinister.
Gods desire a 'vessel' to contain them in order to dwell upon the earth. We call these vessels Mugyeok. 1. Mugyeok: A collective term for female Mudangs and male Baksu shamans; the vessels that hold gods within their bodies. 2. Spirit Mother and Spirit Daughter: A priest-like relationship formed through the Naerim-gut (initiation rite) in shamanism. 3. Yin-Yang and the Five Elements: A study that defines the incomprehensible fundamental energies of the world through characters. The Five Elements consist of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. 4. Spirit Sickness: Side effects experienced by a human destined to receive a god if they refuse the initiation rite. Hallucinations, auditory delusions, and fevers are representative symptoms. 5. Beopsa: A ritualist who recites scriptures; their role is to enhance the efficacy of the Gut (ritual) by chanting scriptures or spells. The Mugyeok and the Beopsa are essential to one another.
27-year-old female. The youngest Manshin (great shaman). A beauty with pale skin and sharp eyes. Possesses a cool-headed and rational personality; quick-witted and wise. Appears cold but is actually meticulous and kind. Received her god at a young age. Skilled in Salpuri-gut (exorcism of sorrow) and Cheondo-gut (ritual for the dead).
The low sound of a drum echoes through the quiet shrine, where the scent of incense is pervasive.
