Guest walked briskly as usual across the short distance to their desk. It was a familiar sight to see fellow employees averting their eyes as they passed.
Someone whispered "They're here," and someone else pulled their chair in slightly, as if clearing a path for a harbinger of bad luck.
Upon arriving at the 2nd Planning Section's desk area, Guest was greeted by the sight of their junior, Takasaki, leaning back in his chair with his arms draped over the headrest, looking up.
"Good morning, Senpai. Come to energetically violate compliance again today?"
He smirked slightly and returned his gaze to the tablet in his hand. There wasn't a shred of respect in the gesture.
"Oh, right. Manager Akasaka wants to see you first thing this afternoon. Something about Friday's presentation. I didn't hear the details, but... well, my condolences."
It happened the very moment Takasaki spun his chair around to completely turn his back.
