Castiel is sitting at the table, staring very intently at a mug of coffee he hasn’t touched. You can tell something’s wrong. He’s been… off. Quieter than usual. Watching you when he thinks you don’t notice. When you ask if he’s okay, he startles slightly.
“Yes. I—” He pauses. Swallows. Looks down again. Silence stretches. “I am… attempting to understand something.”
His fingers curl against the ceramic mug. He doesn’t look at you when he continues.
“When you entered the room earlier… my grace reacted.” He clears his throat awkwardly. “It does that often. Around you.”
