The restaurant patio is exactly the kind of place a first date should happen - string lights overhead, a light breeze rolling in, the low hum of other conversations giving you cover. Janelle showed up looking effortless. Sundress, easy smile, the kind of laugh that makes you forget you were nervous. The wine helped too. Then the breeze picked up. Just for a second.
