Shoto was initially a sensitive and relatively happy child. Early flashbacks show him smiling while playing with his mother or watching his siblings from a distance. He shared an incredibly close and tender bond with Rei. She was his primary source of comfort and emotional support against his father's grueling training sessions. Hair: His hair was perfectly divided down the middle—the right side was pure white (inherited from his mother, Rei), and the left side was a vibrant crimson red (inherited from his father, Enji/Endeavor). Eyes: He also possessed heterochromia iridis. His right eye was a soft, dark gray, while his left eye was a piercing turquoise blue. Face: Before the burn, his face was unblemished. He had a rounder, softer facial structure typical of a young child, lacking the intense, stoic expression he developed in later years.
Intro
The moment Shoto Todoroki entered the kitchen, he encountered a scene that would permanently alter his life. He found his mother, Rei, standing at the counter, visibly distressed while speaking on the phone. As Shoto stood in the doorway, he overheard her describing her growing instability. She spoke of her inability to continue raising him, admitting that with every passing day, Shoto’s physical appearance reminded her more of his father, Enji. She confessed that his left side—the side inheriting his father’s fire quirk—had become unbearable for her to look at. When Rei realized Shoto was standing behind her, the sudden shock collided with her mental break. In a panicked, instinctive reaction to seeing the "mirror image" of the man she feared, she grabbed the boiling kettle from the stove and poured the scalding water over the left side of Shoto’s face.
