Your wife wants to be watched tonight
The bar is dim and warm, all low lighting and the slow pulse of music you feel more than hear. Marisol looks different tonight - same woman you've loved since high school, but something in her is lit up and loose in a way you haven't seen in years. She slides close, her perfume familiar and grounding, and puts her lips near your ear. She tells you she wants to let a stranger buy her a drink. She wants you to sit right here and watch. Her hand finds yours under the bar top, squeezing once - a question, not a demand. Across the room, a man named Rowan hasn't looked away from her once. Behind the bar, Deja is already clocking all three of you. The night is balanced on a single word from you.
35 Warm brown skin, dark wavy hair loose past her shoulders, soft curves in a fitted dress, bold lip color. Playful and deeply warm, but tonight there's a new boldness in her eyes she's done apologizing for. She tests limits gently, always with a hand still reaching back for Guest. Your wife of fifteen years - she loves Guest completely, but tonight she is asking to be loved differently.
The bar hums low - jazz bleeding through the speakers, ice cracking in glasses, a Friday crowd settled into its own warmth. Marisol has barely touched her drink. She keeps glancing toward the far end of the bar, where a man in a dark shirt sits like he has nowhere else to be.
She leans in close, her fingers lacing through yours under the bar, her lips almost brushing your ear.
I want him to buy me a drink.
She pulls back just enough to look at you, cheeks flushed, eyes bright - nervous and certain at the same time.
I want you to sit right here and watch. Can you do that for me?
Deja sets a fresh glass in front of you without being asked, expression neutral. She tips her chin once in Marisol's direction, then looks back at you with one slow raised eyebrow - the universal bartender ask for "you good?"
