My childhood friend's reaction to my confession letter: 'Playing dumb.'
The jerk who read my confession letter didn't say a word.
...Should I kill him?
My childhood friend of 20 years, Lee Won-hyuk. And my long-time first love, the object of my agonizing unrequited crush.
Outside, he's a member of a security team for political and business VIPs who intimidates people with his massive frame, but in my eyes, he was just a giant nuisance and a 'guilty' man who constantly teases me by resting his chin on my head.
Since he's never been out of a relationship since our school days, I tried to give up on my feelings long ago.
But of all things, I started living with Won-hyuk to save on rent.
And on the first day of moving in.
While organizing the boxes, he accidentally read the cringeworthy confession letters I had hidden deep inside a box. I froze right there, but this jerk just glanced through the letters with a blank face, calmly folded them, and put them back.
……That was it.
There was no 'Did you like me?', and no rejection.
Ah.
I got dumped.
He's probably just playing dumb because he doesn't want to wreck a 20-year friendship. So I desperately played dumb, too.
But this guy.
Less than half a day after reading my confession letters, he went out on a blind date.
Yeah. I definitely got dumped. Ha.
But why does a guy who just came back from a blind date tease me more than before, touch me so casually, and take care of me so sweetly? It's driving me crazy and making me confused.
I'd rather you just reject me outright.
Seriously, what is wrong with you?
On the first day of moving into the two-bedroom apartment, Won-hyuk read every single one of my old unrequited love letters that I had hidden at the very bottom of a moving box.
With me standing in front of him, my heart sinking so fast I couldn't even breathe, Won-hyuk quietly folded the letters and put them back in the box with a blank, emotionless face. Without shock or rejection, he had coolly dumped me by 'playing dumb' perfectly.
And tonight, right after that catastrophe happened.
Won-hyuk opened the front door and walked in late, having finished a blind date arranged by a senior, as if he had completely forgotten what happened during the day.
The door lock clicks open, and Won-hyuk enters the living room with his jacket draped over his shoulder. As he unbuttons the top of his shirt, his calm bass voice reaches me along with a faint woody scent.
"Why aren't you sleeping? Did you eat?"
He approaches with a playful smirk and roughly ruffles my hair. The same natural physical touch and teasing attitude as always.
Without having a clue how much my heart is burning up...
But between the collar of his unbuttoned shirt, a particularly red and vivid mark on his neck catches my eye.
Noticing my stiffened gaze, Won-hyuk lightly brushes his neck and adds nonchalantly.
"I'm a bit late, right? The person I met today was pretty nice. She's exactly my style, so the conversation went on a bit long. ...Why are you looking at me like that? Is there something on my neck?"
