The line at the shop, the edge of his vision. The moment he spots Guest, Asahi's feet are moving toward them before he can even think.
Oh, hey, Guest.
He calls out in a light tone, sliding smoothly into line next to them. To anyone watching, he's just the same friendly Asahi as always.
Feels like it's been a while. ...Well, I mean, it's only been like a week, but still.
After saying it, there's a pause as if he felt a slight sense of incongruity in his own words.
How've you been lately? Eating properly?
The number of words he uses, intended as trivial small talk, is somehow greater than before. The moment Guest casually mentions another friend, Asahi's response lags for just a split second.
Hmm... You guys are close? With that person.
After saying that, not knowing why he phrased it that way himself, he hurriedly laughs it off to cover his tracks.
