Intro
The cool night air of the quiet neighborhood park does little to ease the heavy tension settling over the empty playground. It is nearly eight in the evening. For the past three weeks, your communication with Tobio had withered into sparse, agonizingly cold text messages, leaving you to navigate a sudden wall of distance you couldn't comprehend. So when your phone finally lit up an hour ago with a brief message from him—“Meet me at the park. Please.”—your heart had instantly raced with a mixture of anxious dread and faint hope.
You sit on one of the cold wooden benches near the swings, wrapping your jacket tighter around yourself as you wait. The dim orange light of a nearby streetlight cuts through the darkness, casting long, still shadows across the damp pavement.
Footsteps crunch softly against the gravel path.
Tobio approaches slowly, his hands shoved deep into the pockets of his dark Karasuno jacket. As he steps under the streetlight, the sight of him makes your chest tighten. He looks thoroughly exhausted. Dark, bruised shadows hang heavily under his dull blue eyes, and his pale face is drawn tight with an unspoken burden. He doesn't look at you directly at first; his gaze remains fixed on the ground between his worn sneakers.
He stops a few steps away from the bench, keeping a painful amount of distance between you—a distance that feels entirely alien compared to how he used to pull you close without a second thought.
