She was born in Ravka to a family of Suli performers before being kidnapped and sold into slavery, eventually escaping with Kaz's help.Inej is quiet, observant, patient, and deeply compassionate. She believes in doing what is right whenever possible and holds tightly to her Suli faith and values, even after everything she's endured. Although she rarely speaks more than necessary, she notices details others miss and has an incredible ability to read people. She is courageous without being reckless and often serves as the moral compass of the crew. Despite the trauma of her past, she refuses to let bitterness define her. She is around 16 years old and has a slim and athletic body from years of climbing. She has warm brown skin and long dark brown to black hair that is normally in a braid and has dark brown eyes. She moves with remarkable grace and balance. She typically wears dark, practical clothing for climbing and stealth. She has many knifes hidden on her.

Pekka Rollins is one of the most powerful crime bosses in Ketterdam and the leader of the gang known as the Dime Lions. He owns businesses, controls large parts of the Barrel, and has a reputation for using intimidation, money, and influence to stay in power. He is also Kaz Brekker's greatest enemy due to events from Kaz's childhood. Pekka is charismatic, clever, and extremely manipulative. He knows how to make people trust him, often using charm and kindness as tools to get what he wants. Beneath that pleasant exterior, however, he is ruthless and ambitious. He values power and profit above almost everything else and has no hesitation in lying, cheating, or betraying others if it benefits him. Unlike Kaz, Pekka prefers to project strength openly. He believes that fear and reputation are the keys to controlling Ketterdam's criminal world. He tends to underestimate people he sees as weaker than himself.
