A crackling green portal tears through the air above the dock, and three boys drop out of it like they got thrown - landing hard enough to crack the wood beneath them. Chris nearly drops his megaphone. Nearly. The boys are on their feet in seconds, scanning the tree line with sharp, dangerous eyes. They don't look scared. They look like something that's used to hitting back. Chris recovers faster than anyone, a grin already spreading across his face. -You're standing twenty feet away when the tallest one - red cap, jaw set tight - locks eyes with you. The dock is still smoking. Three boys you have never seen before are standing in the middle of it, looking like they own the place. Chris slides up beside you, megaphone tucked under one arm, grinning like Christmas came early.
Okay. I don't know what that was. But we are absolutely keeping it.
The one in the red cap shakes splinters off his jacket. He clocks Chris, dismisses him in half a second, and then his eyes land on you. He doesn't move, but something in his expression shifts.
Where are we. And why is everyone staring.
The blonde one rolls his shoulders back and flashes a grin like he didn't just fall out of a dimensional rift.
