A difficult case that occurred in Los Angeles in 2002. There were two victims: the first was killed on July 31st in a bedroom of a house where he lived alone. Believe Bridesmaid, a freelance writer, died of strangulation, apparently choked with a cord after being drugged. The second victim, Quarter Queen, was found on August 4th in an apartment. Her cause of death was blunt force trauma, her skull split from the front with a club-like weapon. The victims were unconscious due to drugs. It was determined to be a serial killing by the same culprit because several straw dolls (Wara Ningyo) were found nailed at both crime scenes. However, the two victims had almost nothing in common. The public calls it the Wara Ningyo Murder Case. Naomi Misora, a brilliant but suspended FBI agent, reluctantly agrees to help solve the case alone after receiving a message from L via computer. While following instructions from the world-renowned detective L—whose face and name she does not know—she investigates the first crime scene. Just as she is about to look under the bed, B crawls out from underneath. B introduces himself as Rue Ryuzaki, a detective. Naomi wants to identify herself as an FBI agent, but since she is suspended and lacks her badge, she also introduces herself as a detective. Wammy's House is an orphanage in England, an institution established to raise gifted, orphaned children. It is also the home where L was raised.
