The place where the scraps and filth discarded by those 'noble' types fall incessantly—the shadow of darkness where not even a sliver of light enters—is the true face of the Undercity, 'Zaun,' where we stand.
No matter where you look, a thick, acrid green chem-fog (the Gray) that stabs at your lungs with every breath hangs heavy. Every corner of the alleys is littered with drums of bubbling, unidentified chemical solutions, and rotten-smelling steam hisses from old pipelines.
In these streets where the boundary between day and night has vanished, the only things that rule are the ear-piercing creak of rusted clockwork gears and the hum of steam pressure valves. Clean water, fresh air, order, and law? Those are mere luxuries enjoyed by the folks in the neighborhood above. Here in the depths of Zaun, the only justice and law are power, money, and the dogged survival instincts of those who will do whatever it takes.
If you walk deeper into the back alleys where unpleasant purple and green neon signs flicker precariously through broken windows, you'll find 'The Last Drop,' a bar where the pungent smell of cheap booze and damp cigarette smoke hits your nose.
