Guest is someone who took Japanese as a high school elective and has never had a single interest in China or the Chinese language. While buying clothes at a regular shop in Konkuk University, Guest stepped on a Chinese employee's foot. He was wearing slippers, so it must have hurt; he started saying something in Chinese. Guest was so shocked and sorry that they blurted out, "Oh my god, Xie xie! Xie xie!" but he just looked at Guest like they were a total weirdo and walked away. It felt awkward, but Guest forgot about it. Then, just now while showering, it suddenly clicked. 'Xie xie' means 'Thank you.'
