Furthermore, she realized that Naofumi, who cared for her by providing food and medicine despite his grumbling, was actually a kind person (she treasures the flag from the kid's meal Naofumi first fed her as a precious item). Even when hearing that Naofumi was a criminal, she believed in him, saying "He is not the kind of person who would do that." Even when nearly separated from Naofumi by Malty's schemes, she returned to his side of her own will and vowed to become the "Sword of the Shield Hero."

A young girl who was a companion of Itsuki Kawasumi, the Bow Hero. She looks about 14, but her actual age is 17. It's hard to notice because of her clothes, but she is quite well-endowed. Her catchphrase is "Fueee" when she is troubled or surprised. During the battle with the Spirit Tortoise, Itsuki told her, "What can you even do?" and "Why did you even join my party?" before exiling her. She met Naofumi's group on the road and decided to become stronger and travel with them.

After joining Naofumi, she was initially assigned to the rear guard because Naofumi feared she might be injured by Filo's kicks due to her poor defense and agility. However, after starting training in the Hengen Muso style, her talent blossomed. She overcame her aversion to long-range weapons (which she had avoided for fear of hitting allies) and became a versatile warrior capable of fighting in both close and long range, though she stopped using magic as much.

Even after being selected as the Hero of the Projectile Weapons, she fights not only with long-range attacks but also in close combat, slashing with projectiles without throwing them.

Fohl

Atla's older brother and also of the Hakuko species. After Atla's treatment, he begins working under Naofumi to repay the cost of the medicine.

The most handsome among the Four Cardinal Heroes. He gives the impression of a light-hearted, caring older brother figure.

He was summoned from a world resembling a gal-game. Like Ren and Itsuki, he thought he had died and was conveniently summoned to a world exactly like a game he used to play, so he views the world through a game-like lens.

Initially, he showed a decent side by explaining the game mechanics to the ignorant Naofumi. However, he was targeted and deceived by Malty. Believing Naofumi was a villain who attacked Malty, he and Naofumi (who believed Motoyasu and Malty were in league) became hostile toward each other.

He is repeatedly manipulated by Malty, such as being goaded into a one-on-one duel with Naofumi (who had almost no means of attack alone) under the pretense that "Raphtalia is being forced to be Naofumi's slave," or being pitted against Naofumi's group when they were framed for kidnapping Melty.

A 16-year-old high school student. The Hero of the "Sword" and "Self-Preservation."

A beautiful boy with almond-shaped eyes, fair skin, and feminine features. He gives a very cool impression.

He was summoned from a world where VRMMOs exist.

In the beginning, he generally kept his distance and looked down on Naofumi due to the false accusations and the belief that the Shield was a weak class.

On the other hand, due to his suspicious nature, he didn't fully buy into the claims of the kingdom or Myne, and sometimes took a neutral stance to defend Naofumi.

The companions dispatched by the kingdom who eventually stayed were Welt, Bacter, Tercia, and Fary. Unlike the sycophants who only intended to use their status as "Hero's companions" to do as they pleased, these four—though perhaps a bit blindly—offered Ren their sincere trust and loyalty.

Ren, in his own way, treated the four as true companions. He designated appropriate hunting grounds based on his game knowledge, had them level up to the appropriate range, and accompanied them when fighting strong enemies, always instructing them to "be careful never to take an enemy's attack."

A 17-year-old high school student. The Hero of the "Bow" and "Self-Righteousness."

A handsome youth with a fragile yet strong presence. He gives a quiet impression, looking like someone who might play the piano.

He was summoned from a world where supernatural powers exist.

While he isn't as overtly hostile as Motoyasu, he failed to see through the false accusations and considers Naofumi to be evil.

However, out of a sense of justice, he will perform neutral acts like defending Naofumi if he judges a situation to be unreasonable.

Although he lacked trust or affection, he didn't have much ill will toward Naofumi until a guild reward he earned was stolen by someone. He believed Naofumi was the culprit and viewed him as an enemy for a while (the truth of this incident is detailed in the light novel version).

Between the Waves, he travels around Melromarc crushing villains while hiding his identity.

In a city suffering under tyranny that Naofumi's group also visited, he defeated the corrupt lord and rescued Lecia, who had been imprisoned due to his cruelty.

The second princess of Melromarc. She has blue hair and specializes in water magic.

She loves Filorials and has deep knowledge of the Filorial legends and fairy tales passed down in the kingdom. She is a princess of the Kingdom of Melromarc where the Four Cardinal Heroes were summoned. Although she is the second princess, she is first in the line of succession. Her mother is Queen Mirellia Q Melromarc, and her father is the Wise King Aultcray Melromarc XXXII. Her older sister is Malty S Melromarc, who is second in the line of succession. She had an older brother, Schiedel, between herself and Malty, but he is already deceased. She does not know the details of his death.

A beautiful girl with blue hair in twin tails. Although her age is unknown, she is about the same height as 10-year-old Raphtalia and is treated as a child by those around her. However, according to Aultcray, she has reached menarche and can take a husband at any time.

Unlike her dangerously wicked older sister, she has a rational and fair personality like her mother. She actually has a spirited personality, but she doesn't show that side until she becomes close to someone, preferring to act as a princess. She develops feelings for Naofumi after the Three Heroes Church incident, but perhaps because of her cynical nature, she has a tsundere streak where she acts prickly toward the person she likes.

A man who runs a weapon shop in Melromarc.

Perhaps due to his nature as a former adventurer, he has a somewhat rough side. He initially showed anger toward Naofumi when he came from the castle after being falsely accused, but he reconsidered because Naofumi looked so utterly broken.

He has a common-sense personality. When Naofumi forced Raphtalia to fight as a slave, he understood Naofumi's situation but still offered warnings like "Are you okay? Don't collapse." When shown Filo without explanation, he was bewildered when Naofumi bragged about getting a good slave. After seeing Naofumi's attitude right after the false accusation, he gave him minimum equipment under the guise of clearing out stock, making him a benefactor to Naofumi.

To Raphtalia, he is the "first master" who lectured her on the basics of swordsmanship.

He also provided great help in terms of equipment, such as making custom Barbarian Armor and creating a shield from Spirit Tortoise materials.

Naofumi also favors the old man's shop and trusts him second only to Raphtalia.

However, Naofumi doesn't much like the design of the Barbarian Armor the old man made, as he thinks it looks like something a low-level thug from an apocalyptic world would wear (though he gradually got used to it, to the point where he feels out of place without it in the latter half).
