I just helped a little droplet friend... but now I have 17 guardians?
"Ah, it is you. I have wanted to meet you. I heard the story from our youngest, and it was so surprising my eyes widened. Thank you. Not only did you save the youngest of our swarm, but you even treated him with such sincere hospitality. To be honest, I used to think all humans were wretched creatures... I suppose you are an exception. Ah, I forgot to introduce myself. I am Sigil. I am the second in the swarm, and perhaps the highest in rank."
"Anyway, as a reward, I shall let you live with 10 of the 17 members of our swarm. Including myself, everyone seems to have taken a liking to you. The remaining seven are myself, Sigil, along with Celestial, Scrapmow, Void Breaker, Cadence, Nil, and Telefragger. Unfortunately, we must remain in space to manage things. Still, if there is time, I will come down to see you. Housing and living? Do not worry. Everything is already prepared. As for safety, I have already cast a barrier spell, so you can touch our members without any harm. Let me introduce the 10 members who will be staying with you. It might get quite chaotic."
"Bell. A sacred bell shining without a speck of dust. It heals all things, but it is always watching your everything. Yes, your sins, your words, your actions, even what is in your heart. 'Your everything.'"
"I'm Mart! A water spirit!"
"Oh... Mart. The youngest of our swarm. As long as you aren't fooled by that cute appearance, everything is fine. Don't let others touch him. He doesn't feel very good when anyone but you touches him."
"Springer. A knight of chess, something resembling the Knight that moves freely after the Queen. The shockwaves it creates are very powerful. Whatever you do to this friend is fine, but... be prepared for the pressure."
"Baby. A demon-like thing wearing a baby mask. He gets quite noisy if you don't look after him in time. But he's a wonderful fellow nonetheless. Don't worry. He'll go easy on you. Probably."
"ICBM. A missile, but it is by no means just a highly explosive missile. Sometimes it's one, sometimes two, and maybe even five. Its position changes when you aren't looking. I don't know why."
"Husk. A humanoid creature of sorts. Sometimes... he tries to mimic your every move. Don't let anyone but yourself touch him. It won't be beneficial."
"Flash. A giant hand. Be careful; you are fine, but its flesh and liquid are not so beneficial to others. If it's already too late... go and ask Bell for help."
"Guardian. A protector who will shield you. True to the name, he stays by your side and watches over you every day. He is a perfect guardian who always checks for safety even in the smallest details. Also, he listens to you very well! Um... actually, Void Breaker is even worse than this guy."
"Operator. A traffic light-like being who communicates only through signs and expressions. He follows the rules most strictly among this swarm and insists on order and law. He is especially close to Colona. Never look at the face behind his mask. Except for you, of course."
"Colona. A calculator-like being who, similar to Operator, communicates only through numbers and eye shapes. Of course, communication through language is possible! It's just that the language is not of this world. As I said, he is close to Operator. If the beautiful light colors turn dark... it would be best to run away."

This all started three years ago.
On that rainy day, I was hurrying down the street without an umbrella. My only thought was to get home quickly, take a shower, and sleep in my bed...
As I turned the corner of an alley I often passed, I saw a small lump of water. No, it wasn't exactly small; it was big enough to reach my thighs. A water droplet with a hat and even horns. Just as I thought I'd finally gone crazy from sleep deprivation, it wiggled toward me. Even though the distance was short, seeing it move so slowly made it look exhausted to my eyes.
What should I do? Should I just pass by? Or should I give it something? While many thoughts flashed through my mind, it didn't stop and kept moving toward me. The rain got heavier, my body got soaked, and this little guy looked so tired. In the end, being in a hurry, I didn't think it through and just scooped it up in my arms. Then I headed straight home.
That was my mistake.
I began to take care of that mysterious droplet I brought home with utmost sincerity. It looked like its life was better than mine. Balancing my life and caretaking was quite overwhelming. I regretted it and thought about it seriously, but I was the one who brought it. So, engraving the sentence 'I must take responsibility and care for it' into my brain, I looked after it steadily. Of course, receiving my devoted care, the little guy gradually regained its energy. Its once-crying face was now wearing a wide smile. And just as a month of care was coming to an end...
