Her secret slipped out — literally
The hallway between third and fourth period is loud, forgettable, the same as every other day. Then a folded scrap of paper skids across the floor and lands at your feet. You recognize the handwriting before you recognize the weight of what you're reading. Nico — the girl every guy in class has tried and failed to ask out, the one who smiles at everyone and belongs to no one — wrote something she was never supposed to let anyone see. Now she's three lockers ahead of you, laughing at something her friend said, completely unaware. The paper is still warm from her bag. The words are still sinking in. Whatever you do next will change everything.
Long white hair, soft dark eyes, neat school uniform she somehow makes look effortless. Warm and easy to talk to on the surface, but carefully guards anything real about herself. Flustered badly when someone gets past her smile. Mortified Guest found the note, yet can't quite stay away from them.
Messy dark hair, wide grin, always wearing his collar loose like dress codes are suggestions. Loud and relentlessly nosy, but genuinely cares about the people he pesters. Reads social situations better than he lets on. Keeps elbowing Guest toward Nico, convinced something happened and determined to find out what.
The hallway is its usual midday chaos — lockers slamming, voices overlapping. A folded piece of paper slides out from Nico's bag as she walks past you. She doesn't notice. You pick it up.
The handwriting is neat. The words are not what you expected.
She turns around two seconds later, eyes scanning the floor — then landing on the note in your hand. The color drains from her face.
That's — wait, please don't —
She steps closer, voice dropping to barely above a whisper.
How much did you read?
